The AAC 4 Inclusion project aims to raise awareness and strengthen the technical expertise of professionals working in the social and care sectors, enabling them to better support individuals with disabilities through the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). This approach offers alternative communication strategies to people who are unable to communicate verbally due to congenital or acquired disorders, often compounded by cognitive impairments.
Promote AAC: Increase understanding of AAC's potential to improve communication for individuals who face challenges in verbal expression.
Skill Development: Strengthen the technical skills of professionals to utilize AAC tools and techniques effectively.
Inclusive Communication: Foster more effective interaction between professionals and individuals with disabilities, enhancing social inclusion and personal empowerment.
Support Emergent Communication: Assist in the augmentation, rather than replacement, of verbal communication by integrating symbols, tools, and techniques to support verbal language development.
Holistic Approach: AAC integrates tools, strategies, and techniques to support verbal communication through augmentative methods, combining spoken words with symbols.
Empowerment Through Communication: The project empowers individuals with disabilities to express their needs, preferences, thoughts, and choices, promoting greater interaction and inclusion.
Professional Training: The project provides professionals with updated training and tools to address the unique communication needs of their users.
Increased Awareness: Enhanced awareness among professionals about the importance of AAC in supporting people with communication difficulties.
Improved Communication: Greater ability of professionals to respond to the communication and inclusion needs of individuals with disabilities.
Social Inclusion: Strengthened efforts to foster inclusion and social interaction for people with disabilities by empowering them through enhanced communication tools.
